This move introduces the Capri as a contemporary sibling to the new Ford Explorer and positions it as a competitor against the likes of the Volkswagen ID 5, Volvo C40, and Peugeot e-3008.

Unlike the traditional coupe form of its historical namesake, the upcoming Capri is expected to adopt a more modern, raised saloon silhouette, drawing comparisons to the Polestar 2, while incorporating distinctive design elements that pay homage to the Capri legacy.

The success of the front-wheel-drive Avenger, noted for its off-road capability comparable to the Renegade, allows Jeep to be “patient” in introducing the more rugged 4×4 variant, ensuring it meets the high expectations for ultimate capability.

While the Avenger is primarily launched as an electric vehicle EV, there has been speculation about the powertrain options for the 4×4 version. The concept’s all-electric setup may transition into production, or Jeep might explore a hybrid configuration, possibly incorporating an electric motor on the rear axle to achieve four-wheel drive. This approach would maintain the brand’s electrification goals while delivering the off-road performance Jeep is known for.

Kia EV3

The Kia EV3 is poised to launch in 2024 with a starting price of around £28,500. Unveiled in concept form alongside its siblings, the EV4 and EV5, at Kia’s inaugural EV Day, the EV3 stands out as the first of these new concept cars to transition to the showroom.

Drawing design inspiration from the boxy styling of the outgoing Soul EV, the EV3 showcases a more mature and slightly larger stature due to its dedicated electric platform, which allows for an expansive interior space by pushing the wheels to the car’s extremities.

The concept’s interior, designed to showcase the cabin’s spaciousness, includes rear-opening doors. The cabin is defined by a minimalist aesthetic, centred around a long horizontal touchscreen that merges the driver display and infotainment controls.

Kia has explored the use of sustainable materials within the EV3’s cabin, such as mycelium-based fabric for the centre console and natural materials for the seat structures. Practicality is a key focus, with adjustable centre console configurations and innovative rear seat designs that allow for versatile cargo solutions, including the transport and charging of e-bikes or e-scooters via an under-seat vehicle-to-load outlet.

Range Rover EV

Land Rover is working on an ambitious plan to electrify its lineup, with a fully electric Range Rover set to debut in 2024. This design flexibility presents an opportunity to redefine the vehicle’s aesthetic while maintaining its distinctive identity and off-road prowess. 

With competitors like the Bentley Bentayga and Rolls-Royce Cullinan elevating the luxury SUV market, Land Rover aims to position the Range Rover even further upmarket.

While specific details about the electric Range Rover’s powertrain remain under wraps, the MLA platform’s compatibility with dual electric motors and the potential for a large battery capacity suggests promising performance and range capabilities. The prospect of a 100kWh battery offering over 300 miles of range underscores Land Rover’s commitment to delivering an electric SUV that does not compromise on performance, luxury, or versatility.

Manufacturing will take place at JLR’s Solihull factory, a site that has received significant investment to support the production of electric, hybrid, and traditional models.

Lotus Emeya

The Lotus Emeya is the third all-electric model from Lotus. As a sleek four-door “hyper” grand tourer, the Emeya joins the ranks of the Evija hypercar and the Eletre SUV, positioning itself as a formidable competitor to the Porsche Taycan Turbo S and the Tesla Model S Plaid.

With its launch set for 2024, the Emeya is part of Lotus’s ambitious plan to introduce six fully electric models within the next five years.

The Emeya will feature advanced charging capabilities, with the ability to recharge from 10 to 80 percent in just 15 minutes at 350kW charging stations, adding up to 93 miles of range in as little as five minutes. Active aerodynamic elements, including a wide rear spoiler and an active front grille, contribute to its 215kg of downforce, enhancing stability and efficiency at high speeds.

Inside, the Emeya combines sportiness with comfort, offering a minimalistic yet sophisticated cabin experience. A highlight is the 55-inch projected augmented reality head-up display, which integrates crucial driving information with real-time road data, obstacle warnings, and driver assistance alerts. The vehicle also features a premium audio system with Dolby Atmos 3D surround sound and is trimmed in high-quality materials such as PVD aluminium, Alcantara, Nappa leather, and sustainable Ultrafabrics.

Maserati GranCabrio Folgore

The Maserati GranCabrio Folgore has an impressive 750bhp from a triple-motor powertrain. Slated for launch later this year, the GranCabrio Folgore, captured in recent spy shots, features a fabric roof and a drag-reducing front bumper design. It rides on aero-optimized 20 and 21-inch alloys, contributing to its sleek appearance.

Unique to the Folgore’s design is the T-shaped battery pack configuration, which deviates from the more common underfloor placement found in many EVs. This arrangement allows for a lower driving position and maintains the sleek roofline synonymous with Maserati’s grand tourers. The battery supports rapid recharging at speeds of up to 270kW, though the convertible nature of the GranCabrio Folgore means its range will be slightly less than the coupe’s 280 miles, due to the additional weight of the folding roof mechanism.

Despite the anticipated increase in weight over the coupe version, the GranCabrio Folgore is expected to deliver stunning acceleration, with a slightly slower 0-62mph time than the coupe’s blistering 2.7 seconds. This minor difference underscores the engineering prowess behind the Folgore, ensuring that the joy of open-top driving is not compromised by its electric powertrain.

Mercedes-Benz EQG

The Mercedes EQG is set to launch in 2024, the EQG will introduce the all-new G-Turn feature at CES, showcasing its ability to execute a full rotation on the spot, enhancing its agility on challenging terrains. Its 102kWh battery, though smaller than some SUV counterparts, is engineered for efficiency, with the potential for over 400 miles of range and 200kW rapid charging capabilities.

The EQG is set to occupy a unique position in the market, appealing to both off-road enthusiasts and those seeking sustainable luxury. Its anticipated starting price of over £100,000 reflects its premium positioning.

Mini Aceman

The MINI Aceman is set to make its grand entrance into the small electric SUV market with its unveiling scheduled for 24 April at Auto China, the Beijing Motor Show. As MINI’s latest all-electric offering, the Aceman aims to bridge the gap between the new MINI Cooper and the larger MINI Countryman.

With an expected starting price of around £38,000, the Aceman is poised to compete with a variety of rivals, including the Volvo EX30, Hyundai Kona Electric, and Ford Puma EV, among others.

The vehicle’s design is expected to be the boldest in the current MINI lineup, focusing more on style than outright practicality. Features such as high-mounted headlights, a blanked-off octagonal grille, and the signature MINI floating roof effect are set to distinguish the Aceman, along with framed windows and a departure from the hatchback’s angular wheel arch surrounds.

With dimensions of 4,075mm in length, 1,754mm in width, and 1,495mm in height, the Aceman is compact yet offers ample interior space thanks to its wheels being positioned at the corners of the bodywork. However, the boot space may be on the smaller side, indicating a trade-off between sleek design and cargo capacity.

Inside, the Aceman is expected to mirror the interior of the three-door MINI Cooper hatch, featuring a 9.4-inch OLED circular display that serves as the centrepiece for both infotainment and essential driver information. The interior design will also include ‘MINI Experience Modes’ that alter the screen appearance, and interior lighting, and provide unique soundtracks, enhancing the driving experience.

The Aceman is set to utilize the same EV-specific platform and larger pure-electric powertrain as the new MINI Cooper, with a confirmed 54.2kWh battery pack. This setup is likely to offer a range close to 250 miles, catering to the needs of urban commuters and weekend adventurers alike. Although specific details on the electric motors and performance have not been disclosed, the potential for a sporty John Cooper Works version suggests that high-performance variants may be in the pipeline.

Nissan Ariya Nismo

The Nissan Ariya Nismo is a model that combines sporty aesthetics with powerful electric performance. With up to 423bhp available, this electric SUV is positioned as a high-performance variant of the already impressive Ariya, drawing inspiration from Formula E to deliver a driving experience that blends power, stability, and innovative noise technology.

Offering two battery options, the Ariya Nismo caters to different performance needs. The 66kWh battery version delivers approximately 355bhp, while the larger 91kWh battery version boosts the output to nearly 423bhp, providing a 10 percent increase in power over the base Ariya models. 

With up to 442 lb-ft of torque and Nismo-tuned all-wheel electric drive technology, the Ariya Nismo promises enhanced cornering stability and acceleration.

The Ariya Nismo’s design is unmistakably sporty, featuring a lowered front end with a red-accented splitter and a combination of black and red body trim that extends around the vehicle. The addition of newly developed 20-inch lightweight aluminium rims and prominent black arches add to its aggressive stance. The rear design includes dual shark fin antennas, a gloss black roof spoiler, and a body-coloured lip spoiler, all contributing to improved aerodynamics and a bolder overall appearance.

Acknowledging the lack of traditional engine noise in electric vehicles, Nissan has innovatively introduced a simulated sound that echoes the excitement of a Formula E car. 

Peugeot e-3008

The Peugeot e-3008 is launching as a replacement for the best-selling 3008, the all-new e-3008 electric fastback SUV is poised to redefine the electric era with its blend of style, performance, and innovation. The e-3008 has been meticulously reimagined to meet the evolving needs of modern drivers while retaining the essence of what made the original 3008 a success.

Key features include the signature new grille and ultra-thin PEUGEOT PIXEL LED headlights, enhancing its high-tech front end. The design choices reflect a balance between retaining the strong exterior and interior styling of the original 3008 and pushing towards greater modernity and beauty.

Peugeot e-3008 new EV

The e-3008 boasts a spectacular Panoramic i-Cockpit, offering drivers an immersive experience with a 21-inch, high-definition curved panel that seamlessly merges the head-up display and central touchscreen. The introduction of i-Toggles and top-of-the-range seats with ventilation and adjustable side bolsters further elevates the cabin’s comfort and functionality, ensuring every control is within reach.

Built on the state-of-the-art STLA Medium platform, the e-3008 sets a new industry standard for onboard energy with a 98 kWh battery pack enabling an impressive range of up to 435 miles. At launch, the e-3008 will be available in an ELECTRIC 210 hp version, with a LONG RANGE version and a DUAL MOTOR AWD version developing 320 hp to follow. This diverse range of powertrains caters to various customer needs and driving preferences.

True to Peugeot’s DNA, the e-3008 delivers an exceptional driving experience characterised by top-of-its-segment handling, agility, safety, and ride comfort. The combination of the new platform, the Panoramic i-Cockpit, and Peugeot’s expertise in vehicle dynamics ensures that the e-3008 maintains the brand’s reputation for providing a unique and exhilarating road feel.

Polestar 4

The Polestar 4 is a highly anticipated model launch in the UK in spring 2024 with a starting price of around £55,000. The Polestar 4 is positioned as a coupe SUV that blends performance, design, and technology in a package that’s expected to appeal to a wide audience.

The Polestar 4 will slot between the Polestar 2 and 3 in terms of size and price. Described by Polestar’s design director, Maximilian Missoni, as “the reinvention of the coupe-SUV,” the Polestar 4 aims to set a new standard for the segment. The vehicle’s design incorporates sleek, aerodynamic lines and innovative elements, such as a missing rear window replaced by cameras and mirrors to enhance second-row headroom and achieve a more dramatic rear design.

Unlike the Polestar 3, which uses the SPA2 platform, the Polestar 4 will be built on the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform developed by Geely, Polestar’s parent company. This platform is designed to support electric vehicles and has already been used in other models within the Geely family. 

The Polestar 4 is expected to offer impressive performance figures, with the potential for rear or all-wheel drive, a long-range 102kWh battery, and dual motor versions producing up to 537bhp and 686Nm of torque. Fast charging capabilities of up to 200kW and a target range of up to 350 miles underscore the model’s competitive edge in the electric SUV market.

The Polestar 4’s interior promises to be a triumph of design and quality, inspired by fashion and utilizing sustainable materials. A minimalist dashboard is centred around a 10.2-inch instrument screen and a landscape 15.4-inch Google-powered touchscreen, supported by over-the-air updates. The car will also feature Polestar’s latest safety systems, including 12 cameras, radar, and ultrasonic sensors, to provide a secure and intuitive driving experience.

Porsche Macan EV

The all-electric Porsche Macan is poised to arrive in 2024, marking Porsche’s ambitious stride into electrifying its SUV lineup. After a development period filled with anticipation and delays, the electric Macan has been unveiled, setting the stage for what could be a defining moment for Porsche in the luxury EV segment.

The electric Macan maintains a family resemblance to its predecessors while embracing a full EV future. Notable for its sleeker, more muscular appearance, the new Macan has stretched dimensions compared to its petrol-only predecessor, promising a more spacious interior and a dynamic exterior. The vehicle introduces frameless door glass, a pronounced coupe profile, and active-aero devices to enhance its efficiency and aesthetics.

Built on the new Premium Platform Electric (PPE) co-developed with Audi, the electric Macan comes in two variants at launch: the 4 and the Turbo. Both models feature a dual-motor setup with a significant power output — 402bhp for the 4 and 630bhp for the Turbo, promising exhilarating performance and agility.

The Macan is equipped with a 100kWh lithium-ion battery, promising a range that competes with and surpasses many current EVs on the market, including the Taycan and rivals like the Tesla Model Y. With an 800-volt architecture, the Macan supports fast charging up to 270kW, allowing for rapid top-ups and minimal downtime.

The electric Macan introduces innovative features like bank charging for efficient use of 400-volt charging stations and a battery configuration that contributes to a lower centre of gravity, enhancing the driving dynamics. 

Set to go on sale later in 2024, the electric Macan starts at £69,800 for the 4, with the Turbo priced at £95,000 before options. This strategic pricing positions the Macan as a competitive option in the premium EV SUV market, offering a blend of luxury, performance, and electric efficiency that is unique to Porsche.

Smart #3

The Smart #3 is a four-door coupe with a compact SUV flair. With its launch set for early 2024, this model aims to blend the practicality of a four-door vehicle with the sleek aesthetics and dynamic performance characteristic of coupes. 

The Smart #3 shares its front-end design and interior layout with the Smart #1. However, it sets itself apart with a sleeker rear end and roofline, enhancing its aerodynamics and sportiness. The car is designed to offer a sportier feel compared to the #1, thanks to a firmer suspension setup that reduces body roll and a lower seating position to enhance the driving experience.

Smart offers the #3 with two battery options and two power outputs, catering to a variety of driving needs and preferences. The entry-level Pro variant is equipped with a 49kWh battery, capable of delivering up to 202 miles (WLTP) on a single charge. It features a rear-wheel-drive setup with a 272PS electric motor producing 343Nm of torque. 

For those seeking more range, the Pro+ and Premium models come with a 66kWh battery, extending the range to 270 and 283 miles, respectively, while maintaining the same power output. The top-of-the-line Brabus version boasts two electric motors and the 66kWh battery, ramping up the power to 428PS for an exhilarating driving experience.

The Smart #3 is competitively priced, starting at £32,950 for the Pro model. The Pro+ and Premium variants are priced at £36,950 and £39,950, offering additional range and features for a slightly higher investment.

All Smart #3 variants come well-equipped with modern technology and safety features. A central 12.8-inch touchscreen paired with a digital instrument cluster forms the heart of the infotainment system. Smart pilot assist is standard across the range, incorporating advanced driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control with stop & go, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot detection, and a comprehensive suite of parking aids. Premium and Brabus models also benefit from a head-up display, enhancing the driving experience with crucial information projected directly in the driver’s line of sight.
