How We Rated Our Best EV Chargers 2026

To bring you the most reliable guide on the best EV chargers in the UK, we worked closely with our dedicated EV Charger Focus Group, which consists of EV owners local to the UK. This group helped us identify the four most important factors that EV owners look for when selecting a charger. After analysing these insights, we reviewed over 40 different EV chargers and scored each one out of 10 for these four key criteria:

  1. Performance & Charging Speed
Fast, efficient charging is a priority for many EV owners. This criterion measured each chargerโ€™s charging speed and reliability under various conditions, ensuring that they could meet the charging demands of daily life, from quick top-ups to full charges.

  2. Ease of Use & Smart Features
Convenience and accessibility were essential components in our evaluation. Chargers were assessed on how user-friendly they were, including setup, connectivity, and app functionalities. Smart features like scheduled charging, load balancing, and solar integration were also heavily weighted in this score.

  3. Installation & Maintenance
Installation ease and ongoing maintenance play a significant role in charger satisfaction. This criterion evaluated the straightforwardness of the installation process, the compatibility of each charger with standard home setups, and how well each unit held up over time, both physically and in terms of software reliability.

  4. Design & Durability
From compactness to weather resistance, the physical build quality and aesthetic appeal of each charger were carefully scored. We looked at materials, weatherproof ratings, and overall design to determine how each charger would fare in real-life conditions, whether installed indoors or outdoors.

Each charger received a total rating based on these scores, allowing us to offer a balanced view of the best options available on the UK market. You can read our full EV Charger rating methodology here.
